Xermán Rodríguez pays tribute to the female figure at the Eurostars Gaudí

July 23, 2008

The Eurostars Gaudí (Barcelona) presents, from 25 July to 10 September, an exhibition by Xermán Rodríguez. Here we have a vocational artist who has found in the female figure an inexhaustible source of inspiration. The salient feature in the majority of his paintings, i.e. women, are portrayed in a series of pictures characterized by their strong visual impact.

Beyond the presence of the female body, what stands out most strongly in Xermán Rodríguez’s pictures is the profuse usage of curves lines, in juxtaposition with a generous presence of sharp angles. “The great contrasts, black and white, all that which produces a visual impact, form part of these paintings”, explains Rodríguez.

The artist, who has received a varied training in Draughtsmanship, Technical Architecture and Sculpture, feels at home mostly with oils on canvas. The first steps taken by Xermán Rodríguez in artistic circles took place at the end of the nineties, when his work began to form part of various collective exhibitions. Amongst others, he has taken part in the “Galicia Plastic Arts Exhibition for Young Artists” (1998), in the Antonio Fraguas Arts and Crafts Competition (1999, organized by the Corunna County Council) or in the “American Prints Art Supermarket” (2005). In addition, he has been the leading figure in several other individual shows in galleries like “La Galería” (Corunna, 2000) or “Musaraña” (Barcelona, 2006).
