100_0404.jpgTwo hotels, the Eurostars Gran Madrid 4* (Alcobendas) and the Eurostars Zarzuela Park (Madrid) present, from 20 March to 20 May, a joint exhibition figuring work by Sandra Gobet (Madrid, 1985).Sandra Gobet, astride between painting and drawing, concentrates on recreating the human figure. “I find inspiration in the human being and, primarily, in feelings, whether one’s own or those of other people”, states the artist.  Gobet explains that she feels special predilection for those feelings and emotions which, “due to their immensity, appear not to have room in the body”. Gobet also adds to the list of sources of inspiration everyday experiences, anecdotes or dreams, thus configuring a collection of pictures which appear to be highly emotional, the expressionist traces of which “attempt to bring to light the profound sentiments of men and women”.

This artist admits that her work has been influenced by expressionism, giving rise to the use of bright colours. Also influenced by artists of the calibre of Marc Chagall or Francis Bacon, Gobet uses techniques such as water colours, anilins, acrylics and Indian ink. Added to these procedures, the artist uses in some of her paintings pieces of fabric sewn together, collages or printing, all of which lend these works of art a certain present-day air, giving the impression of spontaneity.

Having received a diploma from the School of Engraving and Design from the Casa de la Moneda (Mint) Foundation, Sandra Gobet has studied various courses which define her current artistic path. On the one hand, a seminar entitled “The Body, drawing and movement” and, on the other, a course on “Textile Printing and Engraving”, both organized by the Brussels Royal Academy of Fine Arts (2007). With regard to her participation in exhibitions, Gobet has displayed her creations in the Dato Association and the ‘Espacio Menos Uno’ Gallery (2007). Moreover, this artist has contributed as an illustrator in publications such as ‘Tiempo Cautivo’ (Captive Time), (Pablo Lorente, 2007), ‘Sobredosis’ (Overdose), (2005) or ‘Peñalver, memoirs and knowledge’ (Antonio Herrera and J. García de Paz, 2006).
