Impulsive creations by Blanca Gala, in the limelight at the Eurostars Las Adelfas 4*

March 10, 2008

blancagala.jpgThe Eurostars Las Adelfas 4* (Cordova) presents, from 7 March to 4 May, an exhibition of work by Blanca Gala. Blanca Gala defines her creations as the result of a “controlled impulse”, causing the appearance of “a tension, more spiritual and physical, charged with great lyricism”.Nevertheless, this Cordova artist explains that reality has great weight in the brushstrokes of her canvases. These are pieces of work that give special importance to the atmospheres, the vibration of lights, colour and movement. With regard to her sources of inspiration, Gala affirms that her works are the result of a process of introspection, “based, perhaps, on the contemplation of nature, curiosity about the human being or dead beauty”. And it is in marine landscapes where this Cordova-born artist finds the object of her fetishism.

Having always been interested in drawing ever since childhood, Blanca Gala arrived at the art world in adult life, while developing at the same time her professional activity: journalism. A former scriptwriter for Radio Córdoba and later, RTVE, her professional training explains her vision of painting as “the search for a final result that surprises even me, without anything having been pre-established”, before confronting a canvas. Practically self-taught, Blanca Gala has shown her work in different places over a period of twenty years. Her first exhibition was at the Carmina Abril Gallery & Bookshop in Madrid, no longer in existence, in 1986. Other venues have been the Toison Gallery (Madrid, 1992), the Fuenteovejuna Town Hall (Cordova, 1995), the School of Technical Engineers of Madrid (1994, 1995 and 2007) and the Fernández de los Ríos Cultural Centre (Madrid, 2007).
