mar-de-niebla.jpgThe Eurostars Gaudí 4* (Barcelona) presents an exhibition by Laura Gómez Valero. The show can be visited at this hotel in Barcelona’s Eixample district until 15 May.Laura Gómez Valero (Barcelona, 1969) is a self-taught artist whose career has centred on figurative, monochrome work. “Black and white signify everything and nothing”, asserts this artist. To achieve her purpose, Valero uses in her technical drawings techniques such as Indian ink, pencil or charcoal on canvas. All this is conjugated, giving as a result work apparently simple in appearance, straightforward and pure, with which she obtains “great expressive capacity”. The objective pursued by the artist is “to transmit the magic of nature interpreted as a place for reunion with our inner self”, assuring that, “with these pieces of work, I hope to reencounter the peace that is so necessary in a world that seems to have lost it”.

Work by Laura Gómez Valero has been shown in various individual and collective exhibitions. Together with other artists, Valero has taken part in exhibitions organized by the Alt Urgell Local Council (La Seu d’Urgell, Lerida, 1999) or the Government of Andorra (2003). In the area of individual exhibitions, this artist has displayed her creations in a show entitled, in Catalan, “Si les pedres parlessin” (If old stones could only talk), held in the Lauredià Culture & Congress Centre (Andorra, 2004) or in the Fira Sant Jordi exhibition hall at Hospitalet de Llobregat (2007).
