Deities and monsters take over the Eurostars Roma Congress

May 29, 2008

The Eurostars Roma Congress 4* in Roma will display, from 28 May to 30 August, an exhibition of eclectic work by the Italian artist, Mikaela Galassi. This collection is strong and delicate at one and the same time, clearly influenced by mythology, in which the artist presents us with her personal vision of mermaids, gods, myths and monsters.

Galassi defines her work as “my reason for being, since through them, I am able to manifest my personality and I try to communicate beauty and harmony through form, colour and space”. For her, “the world of archetypes, ancient cultures and mythology are a continual source of inspiration which is transformed into creative visions”.

Her training and experience over more than 12 years as a medal designer and engraver with the Istituto Poligrafico e della Zecca dello Stato has given her an important command of the specialized techniques (engraving, etching, enamelling, etc.), which Galassi has used to advantage in her work.

In addition to her experience in the Istituto Poligrafico e della Zecca dello Stato, Mikaela Galassi’s training was completed with her studies in Applied Arts and Stage Design at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome. After the time spent at the Istituto Poligrafico, Galassi decided to apply herself entirely to her personal work and, from that time onwards, has received many awards, from her own country and from other parts, having exhibited her work in Tokyo, Athens, New York and Philadelphia, amongst other cities. She currently lives between Italy, Luxemburg and the Arab Emirates.
