Fourth edition of the Eurostars Hotels Travel Narrative Prize

Following in the lines of its firm commitment to bond with the world of art and culture, the Hotusa Group calls the fourth edition of the Eurostars Hotels Travel Narrative Prize. The event, organized in collaboration with Barcelona University and RBA Libros S.A, will award one sole prize of 18,000 euros to the piece of narrative which, in the opinion of the judges, is the best story or set of stories entered for the competition.Originals must comprise a minimum of 80 and a maximum of 150 pages, typed in double spacing on one side of the sheet only, in the Spanish language and may be restricted to one story or be segmented into no more than three independent stories, provided these do not exceed the permitted extension limit. In addition, a sine qua non condition is established that each item of work entered shall be original and unpublished.
Candidates must present 5 (five) copies of their work at the Gabinete de Comunicación (Communications Dept.) of the UNIVERSITAT DE BARCELONA, Gran Vía de les Corts Catalanes, 585. Barcelona. (08007). The deadline for entries will close on 31 May 2008. The competition shall in no case be declared null and void and under no condition shall work sent by e-mail be accepted.
The panel of judges appointed to determine the granting of this prize will be composed of a representative from Barcelona University, a representative from RBA Libros S.A., a representative from Hotusa Group, two writers of acknowledged prestige, two journalists specialized in cultural subjects, in addition to a non-voting secretary. In the previous three editions of the award, judges have included writers Ángela Vallvey and Alfredo Conde (2007), writers Anna María Moix and Eduardo Mendicutti (2006), and journalists Ángela Rodicio and Jon Sistiaga (2005).
One of the greatest incentives of this prize is the fact that the winning piece of work will be distributed, free of charge, throughout the over 4,000 rooms comprising the 46 establishments belonging to the Eurostars Hotels chain in Spain, various European and Latin American countries. At present, guests of this Hotusa Group chain are able to enjoy El Barbero del Antananarivo (The Barber of Antananarivo), the winner of the last edition, of which a total of 10,000 copies have been published. An image of the Modern Art Museum of Vienna wins the II Eurostars Hotels Photography Prize

This annual event, organized by the Hotusa Group, received over 450 competing images sent in by clients.
The second edition of the Eurostars Hotels Photography Prize, ‘Your View is Personal’, organized by the hotel chain amongst clients to offer them the opportunity of contributing their own personal views of the destinations where the chain is present, announces its winners. The first prize goes to an avant-garde image of the entrance to the ‘Stiftung Ludwig Wien’, the Viennese contemporary art museum, photographed by Edgar Fernández. Read more
