Art and culture at candle light at the 12th Festival of Luna Mora in Guaro, Málaga

Guaro, in Malaga, will become from the 5th of September, and for two weekends, in the centre of the andalusi culture with the 12th Festival of Luna Mora. Coinciding with the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue, this festival will focus its program in showing the cultural inherited from Al-Andalus with more than 510 activities that unite the andalusi culture and flamenco. All under the unique light of thousand of candles.
At sunset every of the 5 days of festival, the night of Guaro becomes magic. With the help of visitors and neighbors more than 20000 candles will be lit. This year, for the first time, the lighting will coincide with the jingle of San Miguel´s Church bells.
The 12th Festival of Luna Mora will have 7 performers and 7 music formations among which outstand the well known Portuguese band Madredeus, Teresa Salgueiro. Accompanied by the string quintet from La Lusitania Ensamble of Lisbon, will play the sublime La Serena. Eva Yerbabuena, one of the most important andalusian dancers internationally known, will present her latest spectacle Santo y Seña together with her flamenco ballet. Also, the festival will surprise with an own music production; Sonata de La Luna I Marrakech, a particular tribute to the Andalusian musician Carlos Cano.
One of the spaces that will charm visitors will be the several Jaimas installed in Guaro. In its interior will take place some workshops suitable to all ages; ceramics, percussion, Arabic dance, story telling, etc. Among them, flamenco for kids, by the hand the Malaga singer Rocío Bazán.
The Tales Square will be a tribute to the world squares where men and women from different origins, transmit with their stories the memories of their lands and the value of the words. From the early evening hours, acrobats, medieval parade and characters from tales coming from Al-Andalus will take over the streets at the rhythm of percussion to take them to the Tales Square, while the thousand of candles get lit. Also, if you take a walk around the city, you can admire the Zoco, where handcrafters from all over Spain will assist to offer everyday from 5pm, all sort of handmade articles until midnight.
