An explosion of light and colour at the Eurostars Gran Madrid: wellcome to the universe of Charo del Río
May 29, 2008
The Eurostars Gran Madrid 4* (Alcobendas) presents, from 27 May to 27 July, an exhibition by the Madrid artist, Charo del Río. This is a display in which the paintings that are decorative because of the intensive use of colours, contain a profound reflection on the innermost feelings of the human being.
Trained in various art forms, Charo del Río has found in drawing and painting the best tool for transmitting her interests. “My intention is to express feelings with colour, look inside myself and visualize, chromatically, all that I am not always able to express”, says this Madrid painter. Del Río is conscious of the high emotional charge that the human being hides within and which “timidly filters out through the cracks in our exterior image”.
Pictures by Del Río feature, in addition to their important colour impact, a majestic presence of the straight line. According to the artist, “In my work, above all else, straight lines are predominant as a symbol of reality, human law and everything established”. For the artist, these elements “become inexorably imposed, always with their laws, over any enterprise or rebelliousness”.
Charo del Río began her artistic career training in various subjects, such as classical drawing, painting or etching at the Madrid Complutense University. She took part in the National Photography Competition organized by the City Council of Cartagena (Murcia) in 2007 and some of her works are on show at the Azuaga Contemporary Art Museum (Badajoz) and the Mayte Spinola Museum in Marmolejo (Jaen).
