‘Face to face’ with Carmen Lindo, at the Eurostars Gran Valencia
July 23, 2008
There is a saying that “the face is the mirror of the soul”. Indeed, the human face is one of the most important features in art of all periods. The artist from Valencia, Carmen Lindo, presents at the Eurostars Gran Valencia, a new vision of this principle of universal painting. Human faces which can be viewed from 29th July to 1st October at this Mediterranean hotel.
Carmen Lindo makes use in her pictures of strong, agile strokes. The draughtsmanship prevails over the ochre and deep crimson used by the artist. Influenced by names as famous as Klimt, Modigliani or Sisley, Lindo’s work stands out because she has divested the faces, which are the main features of her creations, of all facial expression. Far from relegating those faces to a secondary role, this technique achieves turning the faces of the characters that appear in her paintings into focal points of interest.
Carmen Lindo’s artistic career began in 1987, when she entered the Faculty of Fine Arts in Valencia.
Lindo has taken part, amongst other exhibitions, in the “Happening” show (Palau de la Música, Valencia, 1991), the American Print Art Supermarket (Barcelona, Madrid and Bilbao, 1999-2004), INTERARTE 99 (Burjasot, Valencia, 1999) or the Siranga Gallery in Valencia (2008).
